Checkers in Chile

El día de hoy establecimos contacto por primera vez, con Alan Millhone, Presidente de la American Checkers Federation (ACF), y Richard Beckwith Vice-Presidente de la World draughts and Checkers Federation (WCDF). A continuación acompaño los mensajes:

Dear Richard Beckwith and Alan Millhone:

By this mail we would like to inform you that we have created the first Checkers Club in Chile. We are a group of people that have always felt great admiration by this wonderful traditioal game and that are now taking action in the development of it in Chile and South America. And of course in this project it is very important to contact the most important Checkers association in the world. For us it would be a great achievement to have your help and advice to make our organization bigger. Some of our members had the opportunity to know great checkers players in the World Mind Sports in China and are very enthusiastic in making an international tournament in Chile,

We are making permanetly checkers activities in Chile and have created a blog with interestung checkers information. http://www.checkerschile.blogspot.com/

Best Regards

Greetings, and thank you for your note. It is inspiring to hear of new checker clubs being formed on other continents.
I might mention your note on our ACF forum so that people are aware of your progress and can view your site. The ACF site (usacheckers.com) has various resources, including games archive, checker books & equipment or sale, sample ACF bulletins for download, and other checker links. The following site is also good if you want to get a flavor of U.S. tournament results and photos (under their Calendar page): http://www.nccheckers.org/
Hopefully we can meet someday at a future World Mind Sports Games event. In the meantime, we do have annual World Qualifier Tournaments, for which organizations affiliated to WCDF can send participants or bid to host the event. The ACF holds an annual U.S. National Tournament (usually around August), although I realize the travel distance is far.
Regards,
Richard Beckwith
